It's been a while since I've been in here... For that, I'm sorry!! I was just thinking that I wanted to share how much we are loving being back with Saxon Math 2 this year! I remember doing this math with my oldest... It's such a great program... And I took it for granted, the time I GET to spend doing the lessons with my children!!

Wanted to share this with all my homeschool mommy friends... It's a chart that shows the difference from a woman who is trying to be a "Super Mom" vs. a woman who is striving to be an "Abiding Mom"! So wonderful to consider and prayerfully keep in check throughout the year!!

So, I know I've been missing for a while... This is what I've been up to today!! Labeling curriculum with my trusty P-touch!! Getting excited and actually a little nervous about the work load for this coming school year!! How have you all been? Have you started school yet? If not, what's the big day!? 😊
I've been feeling very overwhelmed lately. Excited for the new school year but not prepared/planned well enough. We've been doing projects around the house & have run out of time. We started some co-ops this week but don't officially start until next Tuesday. Hoping to be ready. - loveteachingmy4  3.9 #12 9:47PM
That looks fun, I love organizing! 😊 My oldest is only turning 3 next week, so I'm just doing Confessions of a Homeschoolers' Letter of the Week with her, VERY informally, so I guess we'll start with A for Apple in early September?? I have to fight the former teacher in me that wants to do a lot of curriculum with her!! I'm learning a lot from Sally Clarkson about not being so curriculum focused. I have to tell you ladies though...I'm so overwhelmed by this homeschooling thing. I have no background in it at all, and the more I learn the more I see how it's really the best educational choice, but...my toddler is very strong willed, and there's part of me that, to be honest, doesn't really want to homeschool her. I'm thankful for all the years of experience on this app that I am learning from! - MommyLuvs2  6.7 #8 2:31PM
I love the organizing part of homeschooling. We still have several weeks of last years curriculum to do, and I'm trying my best not to get ahead of myself and dig too far in to our new curriculum. I have Contact papered the paperback books and looked through the teacher's manual, but I'm really trying not to look too far ahead yet. Thankfully we have had a very productive school week (despite my post from earlier today complaining about our school day). 😳By the way... I love my P-Touch almost as much as my laminator! 😍 Only a homeschooler!!! 😂 - 3John4  13.0 #4 6:17PM

One of the sweetest books to read with with your children! I read it many years ago, our first year homeschooling, with my older three... And, I'm so excited to get to read it again, this next school year with my little boys!! AND, IT'S FREE ON KINDLE RIGHT NOW!!! Grab this title and cuddle up with your little (and not so little) ones, to make memories that will be cherished for a lifetime!!   More...
I downloaded it the other day! I had seen it on facebook. Now, I need the time to read it. Still getting my 2013-2014 school year together. - abidinginHim  13.9 #3 12:27PM
I grabbed this deal too! Love this book. I recently found a fb group that lists free Kindle books for home schools. Just a couple a day. I'm loving it! - 3John4  13.0 #4 9:17AM
It's called 'free ebooks for homeschoolers'. I think it's a community, not a group. Not sure how that all works, but just try to do a general search for it and it should come up. - 3John4  13.0 #4 8:52AM

Okay! So life has been a bit crazy these past 4-6 weeks! We are still trying to tie up a few loose ends as far as school goes! Hi Friends! I feel bad that I haven't been in here much these past couple of weeks! A sweet friend, who knows my crazy schedule, suggested that I change our Mom's Coffee Break schedule! The next one would fall on this upcoming Thursday. Once again, I have activities for my children that night that will have me running. And then two weeks later we are coming up on a big weekend that will also   More...
P.S. The night of the last Mom's Coffee Break, I was called to be at the delivery of my first nephew!! It turned into a 27+ hour labor, but he was BEAUTIFUL!!! I was so blessed by being there to witness such a miracle!! And, I'm happy to say that even though baby had to spend over a week in NICU, he came home last night!!! Praise God, he is doing great!! I LOVE babies!!! ;) - MPCteachesher6  26.8 #1 3:53PM
Next Thursday would be just fine!! Thursdays at 9pm is working fine for me too. And as far as the frequency, I'm also totally flexible- I've been liking the every 2 weeks, but I only have two babies, not 6 (yet)!!! 😉So every 3 or 4 weeks would be fine too. Maybe we could start off with every 3 weeks for now, and if that's still too much for you, push it to once a month? - MommyLuvs2  6.7 #8 4:34PM
The change works for me! How about the 2nd Thursday of every month? And if we find we want to meet more often, we could have it on a different night? Congrats again on your nephew! So glad to hear he's doing well and home now! Let the fun begin! - BluRayn  12.0 #5 11:07PM

The question of the morning in my home... "Mom, why do our shoes shrink?" I love the questions my 5 year old asks!! Have your kids said or asked anything today that is worth writing down?
I am expecting a baby, and we decided not to find out the sex of the baby. My 5 year old son wants it to be a boy, and he told me "mommy I prayed when we were in Target that the baby is a boy baby". Love this! - I-love-my-family  10.0 #7 5:15PM

Hahaha... For the second time in a row now, I am double booked on Mom's Coffee Break night!! But tonight, God really blessed and inspired me to share how important, no ma  More...
Wanted to check in and say "Hi". I wish I could stay and chat, but I'm trying to get things settled in enough so we can spend our first night in our new house!!! We have stuff everywhere, but God is still blessing our socks off. We are opening boxes that have been packed up for four months. I'm laying on my bed right now for the first time in nearly two months. We are dealing with major disruptions in our homeschooling right now, but I trust the Lord has His hands on us. It will be okay. :) I can't wait for a couple quiet moments to check back and see everyone's advise on this subject of getting distracted. - 3John4  13.0 #4 9:41PM
I, too, missed the discussion. I admit, I forgot :-( I would like to tell a little about our distrations. Nov 30, 2010 was a normal day for us, but as we were preparing lunch we got a phone call. It was a paramedic trying to calmly tell me that my husband had been hurt and not to panic. I raced down the road to the local hospital, when my cell rang (which btw was a miracle, bc I was in a dead zone) and it was my husband! He said not to panic and he had been hurt "real bad". He also told me that they were going to take him to the trama unit at another hospital in downtown (scary place, promise). I panicked and drove back to the house, which I asked my neighbor to take me. Well, the story is, Wayne was strapping down his trailer (he is a commercial truck driver) and the bungee cord broke. he looked up to see what that noise was and BAM, the bungee took his eye out. God is so awesome. It took 10 months and 4 surgeries (and LOTS of prayer and encouragement) for him to get behind an 18 wheeler again, but he is doing it. Along this journey, I had to go back to work (God told me to, so I did and he BLESSED the socks of me there). The ride to employement has been crazy and not steady at all. We have lost our home and moved into my grandmother's old house. I have also since been diagnosed with a moderate/severe Rheumatoid Arthritis. In which, God told me to move (and very sad I obeyed) and now he is blessing us again. A stranger heard about our 2 yo trials. He came in here and fixed the ceilings (which were caving in on us) and now he is building us a small room and another bathroom, just so my son can have his own room. You have to know we lost a 2800 sq ft home and grandmother's is 990 sq ft (and there are 5 humans, 2 large dogs, 2 parakeets, and a frog). Homeschooling is a blessing to me. When life throws us hard things that we must deal with, we are able to do what's important and go back to the books as we go. Just don't fret and always remember you have 365 days to do 180 days of school :-) - liskbliss  3.8 #13 4:53AM

Hi Everyone! I am so sorry that I haven't posted any updates until now, about our next Mom's Coffee Break! We are due to have one this Thursday, April 4th, at 9:00 p.m., PST! @BluRayn suggested that we talk about homeschooling through "life's interruptions". And speaking of interruptions, I'm taking my boys to a music thing on Thursday nite so i might be a bit late to participate! But it'll definitely make for a good read!! Some of my favorite Easter resources for the kids!!
Thanks for sharing. We're missing our resurrection eggs this year. I am going to have to keep a look out for some of those books. @MPC I usually put away holiday books with the decorations every year. It makes getting them back out the next year so much fun. I'm wondering how others store the huge amounts of books that we accumulate being homeschoolers? Any new ideas out there? - 3John4  13.0 #4 11:40AM
Looks like some great resources! :) - abidinginHim  13.9 #3 11:40AM
I have 4 bins and we rotate our books each season. I keep the seasonal/holiday books (except Christmas books which we keep with Christmas decorations) in their appropriate bin. Our other books I spread out between the bins. I have found that my kids love this because it is like getting new books since they haven't seen them since the year before. We do have some books that we keep out year-round. - loveteachingmy4  3.9 #12 10:14AM

So sweet!! I'm working on my dad to make me one of those beautiful advent candle holders for Christmas next year. What a beautiful photo! - 3John4  13.0 #4 11:41AM

We had to stay home from church due to sick kids, but we still celebrated & talked about why we celebrate Easter. - I-love-my-family  10.0 #7 1:25PM

It's Friday, but Sunday is coming!! How do you celebrate Good Friday with your children? Do you attend Good Friday service at your church? I love that even my little ones can grasp and ponder with us, the reason that we call this day that our Lord was hung to die on a cross "good"... It's because Sunday is coming, and on the third day, He rose again, and we can proclaim, "HE IS   More...
Happy Good Friday!! There is service at our church, but our 2 year old has a cold, so we can't go. 😩 We've been doing lots of cross crafts though, and she tells us that "Jesus went on the cross." Warms my heart to start to see God's truth starting to take root in my first born- something I have dreamed of for a long time!! - MommyLuvs2  6.7 #8 2:39PM
Happy Good Friday and Happy Easter or Resurrection day! We are going to church tonight. I made two cakes to share: a cross and a lamb. - abidinginHim  13.9 #3 5:19PM
My kids are still sick! I hope they are better by Sunday, but I am not sure they will be. I love Easter Sunday I would be very sad if we couldn't go. - I-love-my-family  10.0 #7 9:20PM
